Business is rapidly expanding on a global scale requiring the acquisition of diverse talent with various skillsets in different geographical locations. If you don’t currently work virtually or have virtual work relationships chances are you will in the near future.
There is an example, how Japan's small and medium enterprises have built working relationships using mutual complementarity to produce new products and technologies. The heterogeneous groups mature through three phases—Matchmaking (enterprises getting to know one another and establishing communication); Honeymoon (engaging in joint development); and Child Rearing (commercializing joint development).
Based on an analysis of the technological and managerial requisites for building and operation of these groups develops the concept of “synergy circles”, as a strategic tool to advance international competitiveness.
